SGA Hosts Event to Announce Election Results

On Friday, April 4, Wright State University's Student Government Association held an event in the Union Market where they welcomed students to get free slices of pizza and raffle tickets. Students took their seats and waited eagerly for the announcements of who would serve on next year's SGA.

Cannabis and Public Health: History, Laws and Usage

On Wednesday, April 9, Wright State University's Counseling and Wellness Services hosted a panel with a discussion on the importance of safety with cannabis, especially during National Public Health Week. The event was open to all staff and students to create a dialogue on the topic.

Trump Administration to Revise Student Loan Forgiveness Programs

Biden’s initiative to forgive large amounts of student loan debt has been officially ended by President Trump in favor of a more niche program that is difficult for many Americans to achieve. It will favor those who go into the public service fields, similar to the original plan in 2007.

The SGA Senatorial Candidates Running with Opposition: COLA and COSM

Wright State University’s Student Government Association purpose is to ensure that student voices are heard and that campus policies reflect their needs. Each spring, students campaign for elected positions within the organization. This year, only two Senator positions had any opposition, which were the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Science and Math.

Is Yik Yak Getting a Revival at WSU: How the App is Used and its Impact

Yik Yak is a social media app where all users can post anonymously on boards of certain topics. It is popularly used by colleges for students to discuss campus activities, and WSU is no exception. The impact of the app on life at WSU may be small compared to bigger campuses, but exploring it is still worthwhile.

Dungeons and Dragons: The Game That Keeps on Living

The popular tabletop game, "Dungeons and Dragons," or "D&D," was first released in 1974. Since then, it has accumulated a wide number of fans and players that participate in campaigns, telling unique stories and going on spontaneous adventures. Because of its popularity, many films and television series have been made adapting elements from the game, and more appear to be coming soon.

Indigo Hippo: Preventing Waste and Encouraging Recycling

Located in the Cincinnati area, Indigo Hippo is a small business that focuses on reselling used art supplies to give these materials another chance, rather than tossing them into the trash. Indigo Hippo and the City of Dayton both encourage recycling and reusing items to help reduce Ohio’s waste.

The WSU Bathroom Protest: A Call For Solidarity

On Wednesday, March 26, the School of Professional Psychology held a protest in Wright State University's quad. Many people from the community joined the cause, participated in the activities set up for the peaceful rally, and listened to powerful speeches from community members and passionate advocates.

Short Film Project Blackbird Shows Importance of Mental Health Advocacy

On March 19, the doors opened at the Student Success Center for Project Blackbird, an event dedicated to mental health advocacy. The night featured a screening of the short film Blackbird, a panel discussion, and a mental health resource fair. The event aimed to spark conversations about mental well-being, providing attendees with insights from experts and access to valuable support services.

Women's and Veterans Tea Party: Shedding Light and Sharing Tea

The Women’s Center partnered with Wright State University's Veteran and Military Center to support and celebrate the sacrifice of veterans, especially those on campus. The tea party event served as a way for students and members of both groups to come together to share pastries and stories.

On Thursday, March 13, Wright State University hosted a panel featuring four female business owners in the food and business industry. Organized by the Raj Soin College of Business, the Women’s Center, and the Asian and Native American Center—with support from the Entrepreneurship Club and ReyRey Café—the event provided a platform for these entrepreneurs to share their unique experiences, challenges, and successes.
