Campus Crime Notes for April 21 to June 16

As Summer heats up at Wright State University (WSU) there were several crimes reported on the Dayton campus between April 21 to June 16. The Wright State University Police Department (WSUPD) handled the situations and shared the public safety reports.

Property Damage

More property damage was reported on the log. There were a total of eight incidents since the last crime report.

The first offense occurred on April 22 in Hamilton Hall. According to the reports, the incident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m.

The second offense occurred on April 23 in front of Allyn Hall at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The third offense occurred on April 24 at the Mathematical and Microbiological buildings at approximately 7 a.m.

The fourth offense occurred on April 27 in the parking lot for White Hall at approximately 4 p.m.

The fifth offense happened on April 28 at the library around 7:00 a.m.

The sixth incident led to an arrest at the Quadrangle on May 8 at 1 p.m.

Both the Student Union and College Park dealt with property damage on May 21.

Other than the one incident that led to an arrest, all leads were exhausted for the cases, and the perpetrator was not found.

Trespassing

Calamityville had a case of trespassing that took place on April 28. The alleged incident occurred at 8 p.m. when WSUPD arrived on scene to calls about trespassing. While the perpetrator wasn’t caught and the case remains open, they also are charged with property damage as well as ethnic intimidation.

Fawcett Hall saw trespassers on May 7 at approximately 12:31 p.m. The perpetrator was arrested.

Another trespasser was arrested in Lot 2 on May 8 around 3 p.m. According to reports, the suspect was also charged with resisting arrest.

Yet another trespasser was arrested at the McLin Gym around 5 p.m. on May 9.

Theft

A theft occurred at the Village Apartments on April 18 around 9:30 p.m. The suspect was not caught.

The next theft on campus was reported to have happened on April 28 around 3 p.m. The incident occurred at the Hanger Dining Hall.

Two days later on April 30, WSUPD Officers arrested a shoplifter at the bookstore located in the Student Union. 

On May 8, another person was arrested outside of Boston Hall after allegedly stealing bicycles. 

The last item of theft in the log occurred on June 12 at 8 p.m. The incident occurred at the Russ Engineering Building and the suspect was not caught.

Disorderly Conduct

Boston Hall saw a case of disorderly conduct on April 27. According to reports, WSUPD arrived on scene at 3:56 p.m. and spoke with the individual involved.

Another case of disorderly conduct was reported out of The Village Apartments. The incident happened June 14 at around 8:04 p.m.

Traffic

There was a small accident that occurred outside of the Woods Residential Halls. The alleged accident appeared to be a hit and run situation. No perpetrator was caught or linked to the crime. The case was closed April 27.

There was a traffic stop that occurred near Lot 6 at The Nutter Center. The incident happened on May 19 around 11:20 p.m.

Miscellaneous

A case of gross sexual imposition took place at the Creative Arts Center at approximately midnight back on Oct. 1. The perpetrator was recently discovered, but the victim declined prosecution, so the case was closed.

An open container liquor offense was reported at the Mini University on-campus daycare. The alleged incident happened around 3:30 pm. The case was closed with the suspect being sent to the Community Standards office.

There was a case of fraud that took place at the Bursars' Office that took place at 3:20 p.m. on April 21. 

A fire happened at the Student Union on May 3 at 3:30 pm. Everyone was safely evacuated and the fire was put out.

Another fire happened on May 22 at The Village Apartments. Again, everyone was safe and the fire was put out swiftly.
