President Trump Versus the Associated Press: What Does This Mean for Journalism?

On Feb. 15, news broke that the Associated Press (AP) was barred from the White House following a 4-day dispute with President Donald Trump over the Gulf of Mexico. Following this is a lengthy legal situation, as President Trump is the first U.S. president to bar a news organization from covering him. This leaves many to question whether this is a direct attack on the First Amendment, which covers freedom of press, and what this might mean for journalism in the future.

The Future of WSU’s Cultural Identity Centers as President Trump Bans Community Gatherings

Since his inauguration, President Donald Trump has been signing orders banning diversity, equity and inclusion efforts across the nation. Because of these new rules and regulations, many universities shut down their programs and identity centers immediately. With Wright State University's student-centric ideologies and claims, it is only natural that they did not take this approach. However, with the current state of the country, students are left uncertain about what the future of WSU's beloved Cultural and Identity Centers might be.

Present Moments: Mindful Coloring and Group Session Highlight

Wright State University's Counseling and Wellness Services offers a wide variety of resources to all students, including a variety of group therapy sessions for various identity groups. There is also one which is open to everyone, focusing on mindfulness with a new activity each week. They held their second weekly meeting of the semester on Wednesday, Feb. 19, with the activity of mindful coloring.

Below is two collections of photos taken by our photographers. The first is a tour of our office, including our staff’s desks and some hidden Gems. This space is vital to the operations of the Wright State Guardian. It is our safe space, where free speech can be upheld and the most important stories can be told. The second is a collection of photos of our staff members in action. While we may not always be onsite at major breaking news, we are at the fore front of journalism, telling stories and investigating the truth everyday.

The Troupe Club is a student-led organization at Wright State University that allows all students with a love for theater and the arts to perform and grow together, as well as express themselves, regardless of majors.

WSU Bowling Team Closes in on Their Season

The Wright State Women’s Bowling team capped off an impressive Ohio Bowling Conference (OBC) season as runner-up, with multiple players earning individual awards for their standout performances. Shifting focus to their non-OBC season, the Raiders recently competed at the Hoosier Classic where Mia Sayles scored her first 300 game.

SGA Calls Students to Action: a Petition for Menstrual Products in WSU Bathrooms

Wright State University's Student Government Association is always looking for aspects of student life that they can help improve. Recently, they passed a resolution to put free menstrual products in bathrooms on campus. Since then, they have been raising awareness by asking students to sign their petition as further proof to WSU that this is a necessary resource.

Students with federal loans are fearful that their personal information has been breached. The Five Rivers MetroParks is a series of public parks in the Dayton area, which offer a wide variety of activities and outdoor scenery for students to visit during their off time. Even with the current cold weather, there are plenty of indoor events to enjoy during the winter season.

WSU Chili Cookoff: Competing for the Crown

The Raider Round-Up and Chili Cookoff event is a yearly tradition on the day of Wright State University's Homecoming. Lots of student organizations, many of them associated with Greek Life, come out to showcase the chilis their members have concocted. Four organizations are recognized every year, with judges picking their top three, and the attendees voting on the people's choice award.

At the 2025 Grammys, Bianca Censori took off her coat to reveal a mesh see-through outfit that rendered her completely nude on the red carpet. Many have been debating her reasoning for her stunt, and the motivations behind her and her husband Kanye West.

Opinion: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Efforts are Necessary at WSU and Everywhere

On Jan. 22, President Trump signed a morally questionable executive order promising that all diversity, equity and inclusion programs will be terminated, and making DEI illegal. This order is already taking root in many universities nationwide. While Trump calls DEI “radical” and “discriminatory,” it is essential that we make it known how valued DEI is so we can set the record straight for the president.

Career Services: New Location, Centering on Student Needs

Wright State University has always claimed to be student-focused, but in recent years, the campus's slow but sure makeover proves that. On the first floor of the Student Union, near the Student Involvement and Leadership Office and new Bookstore, WSU recently opened its new Career Hub. This modern space has many amenities and important services that all WSU students need to know about.
