The Hearty Refresher: Anatomy and Physiology Club's Drink of the Week Feb. 16 to Feb. 20

Wright State University (WSU) is home to a wide variety of student organizations. Among them is ReyRey Cafe, the entirely student-led coffee shop on campus. Each week, they partner with another student organization to create a new drink of the week that represents both groups. This week is the Anatomy and Physiology Club’s turn.

Logan Dreyer is the Chief Marketing Officer for ReyRey Cafe. He runs ReyRey’s social media platforms and curates the new weekly drinks.

This week, the chosen group is WSU’s Anatomy and Physiology Club. The drink is called “The Hearty Refresher,” and brings a unique, complex flavor.

“It's got strawberry puree, and it's really red,” Dreyer said. “It's really good. I think it's better than our strawberry syrup.”

The puree creates a sweet and strawberry-forward flavor, followed by a sourer taste of lemonade and green tea. For fans of refreshers, especially those who favor a strawberry flavor, this drink is sure to be a ten out of ten. If this describes you, then you probably want to get a large size right away.

If those are not quite to your taste, the drink is still worth trying, as they combine to create something entirely new that you just might enjoy. If this is you, then stick to a small size while you try this one.

“What they said was, they're doing a heart dissection. And it kind of like, blew me away,” Dreyer said.

This stuck out enough to Dreyer that it became the focus of the drink and its title. For anyone interested in this type of medical research, the club is open and holds events.

Jeanelle Soto-Lopez is the Outreach Coordinator for the Anatomy and Physiology Club. She gave a statement regarding the club's purpose and their intentions in collaborating with ReyRey Cafe.

"We take pride in bringing together students from all backgrounds and majors to learn and have fun. We enjoy collaborating with other organizations on and off campus to grow our opportunities and skill sets," Soto-Lopez said.

The Anatomy and Physiology Club will be dissecting a heart on Friday, Feb. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will be open to the public, though due to its nature, the club asks that only college-aged students and above attend.

"As a relatively young club, we'd like to use this collaboration opportunity with ReyRey to grow our presence on campus and bring awareness of what engaging activities our club has to offer," Soto-Lopez said.

The Hearty Refresher can be ordered as easily as requesting the drink of the week from Feb. 16 through Feb. 20.
