At Wright State University (WSU), student organizations are everywhere. The members of those organizations need a faculty member to collaborate with and create the expectation for their organization. To maintain community within the university, Christian Hill is the connection between faculty and the student body.
Hill started at WSU as the Assistant Director for Student Organizations in April 2026. Hill is originally from Gary, Indiana, and attended Indiana State University to acquire his bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in finance. Afterwards, Hill attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he received his master’s degree in higher education and student affairs.
At WSU, Hill handles all things student organizations. He ensures the organizations have the necessary paperwork and space to be created or to re-register. Currently, his focus is on the CommUnity Corner in 019 Student Union. The organizations housed in the CommUnity Corner include Rainbow Alliance, Miracle Makers, Black Student Union, Amigos Latinos Student Association, University Activity Board, Asian Student Association, Abilities, Student Government Association and the sorority and fraternity life suite.
Hill plans to establish the currently-housed student organizations further, ensuring they use the space correctly. From there, he intends to invite other student organizations to utilize the space, hoping to have students work with him in the future to handle the CommUnity Corner.
Hill hopes to host community events alongside other campus communities, such as UCIE, Counseling Health and Wellness or even with Title IX Coordinator Kate Page.
He teases a possible “Love Island” watch party to include the younger generation’s interest, hoping impromptu meetings will bring together the community even more than preplanned smaller events.
“Any organization that you are interested in is a really great organization to get involved with,” Hill said. “We have over 220 organizations on our Engage page. So pop in, shoot somebody a message or reach out to us in the CommUnity Corner… we’ll help to find that connecting point."
Hill is most excited to see the creativity of organizations to grow in the upcoming years. He is also excited to set “great foundations” for students to create new involvement and rework old involvement. There are many options for student organizations, and Hill recommends students to try organizations specialized to each interest.
"Our student leaders who are on campus, active doing all the things, trying to prepare their organizations forward and gain membership...we're a really great midpoint middleman...to facilitate that connection," Hill said, on why students might come to the CommUnity Center to explore their options for student organizations.
Hill hopes to evolve programs to fit the current student body’s needs and understanding.
