Intern at the Wright State Guardian, Brandon Player, brings his passion for advocating to the team.
"I'm a very big advocate. College takes a lot, and if you don't have enough funds or enough scholarships to do this consistently, it can kind of be hard," Player said. "Especially when you have a lot going on; that's not even including if you're paying out of pocket for yourself, or, you have other jobs, you have kids. It's a lot of different factors."
A senior Bachelor of Science major, Player commented about how even with scholarships, attending college can be hard to pay for.
"How [WSU] has been for me as a student, it's been a lot of ups and downs, but that's life in general. It's not like it's something that's only significant towards me," Player said. "I feel like I'm just the average college student. Average college [students are] trying to figure it out like everybody else. And I guess people can feel synonymous with that."
Through his articles, Player spotlights many of these ups and downs for The Guardian's readers. In his four years at WSU, Player has grown through his learning.
“College is hard, especially when you're trying to regulate your life, because a lot of people are young, and we need to figure out how we navigate through this world as up and coming adults,” Player said.
Navigating the college experience is especially hard when it comes to finding a between work and life, according to Player. His strategies include playing video games in his spare time.
“I'm a very big nerd that loves Marvel [and] DC. I like to hang out with friends," Player said. "Yeah, I'm just a nerd that likes to play games. I like to look at philosophical stuff when I feel like, you know, hanging out with people, building community with people, I feel like that's a good thing."
