The National Football League (NFL) features 32 clubs, each with a home, away and alternative uniform. In a survey posted on The Wright State Guardian's Instagram page, Wright State University (WSU) students and NFL fans shared their personal favorite jerseys.
Top jersey designs
Jersey designs include different colors and patterns. Some teams do throwback uniforms, which offer some of the fans' favorite jerseys. Aside from specialty designs, some teams' home and away uniforms have unique designs and colors.
In The Guardian's Instagram survey, a forum was posted for people to share their thoughts. A few favorites included the Tennessee Titans’ home colorway: a powder blue design with red, gray and dark blue accents.
Another was the Cincinnati Bengals’ bright orange jersey with black-and-white tiger-stripe detailing. Their white-out alternate uniform is also a popular response, widely bought and worn by fans.
One of the top responses overall was the Detroit Lions’ home jersey. Their electric blue, paired with white and gray accents, makes the design stand out.
Every team illustrates its history in their uniform with color choices and designs. A lot of fans may show bias to their own team’s colorway as their favorite, but no matter the decision, jerseys represent history, pride and personality.
Limited edition jerseys are often deemed more "fun," as they include a wider variety of designs. These colorways are usually only worn in one game of the season, sometimes more, depending on the team’s decisions.
This year, the Buffalo Bills debuted an all-white, icy jersey with blue accents as part of their 2025 Rivalry Collection. The ice design gave it a clean, unique look that stood out from their usual uniforms.
The Cleveland Browns also presented a new Alpha Dawg jersey, featuring matte orange and brown in a combination that made their classic colors an iconic statement.
One of the most widely known uniforms is the Philadelphia Eagles kelly green jersey, which is a classic for the team with its vibrant green and the flying eagle on the side that Eagles' fans love.

Outside of the NFL, the world of jerseys is expansive. From college teams to basketball uniforms, the uniqueness and creativity do not stop at the NFL.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) has many standout jerseys, but a popular one is the Miami Heat’s Vice jersey, which has accents of pink and blue, which offer a one-of-a-kind look.
A popular response was also the Ohio State University’s home jersey, which is considered a classic among fans. This jersey is the classic scarlet red with black and grey accents. A popular jersey amongst fans, as they even made it.
Overall, jerseys are a big part of fan culture. Fans continue to love, buy, collect and wear them with pride, regardless of the team’s record. No matter why you like a certain uniform, even if it is just for the colors, they are something fans connect with, making them a popular part of the sport.
