The Chinese Club aims to promote cultural education and appreciation on WSU campuses through events such as their recent Boba event (珍珠奶茶) at the local Blossom Juicy Bar.

Club President Abigail Bond spoke of the current 35 member club as a community of students who wish to celebrate Chinese culture and educate others.
“[These events] are nice for people to learn about Chinese culture then hang out and engage. We try to do educational things as well in our community, like we just had a Chinese language workshop,” Bond said.
According to the Chinese club PR chair Christina Haws, the event was a success. Haws is the location manager at Blossom Juicy Bar and was able to help coordinate the event to educate the attendees about the history of the Taiwanese drink and its recent popularity in American culture.
“One of the most important reasons that we have events like this is not just to promote a cultural understanding, but also to show how much American culture stems directly from the different cultures that we have incorporated, and to maintain close ties with the original cultures,” Haws said.
Club member Chinonye Odumodu said that the core values of the club are etiquette, appreciation and language learning.
“We learn about the various language basics that you would want to know if you meet a Chinese person, etiquette and how to avoid any miscommunications because of the different cultures,” Odumodu said.
The next event is a Chinese Film exploration on Tuesday, April 12 from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. in 101 Fawcett Hall.
