The Philadelphia Eagles took home the Lombardi trophy by winning Super Bowl LII 41-33 over the New England Patriots. It was the first super bowl title in Eagles history, and Philadelphia’s first championship since the Phillies won the World Series in 2008.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady played in his eighth super bowl, an NFL record. Super Bowl LII was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the home of the Minnesota Vikings.
The first quarter started out slow with only 12 points being scored, but by the second quarter both team’s offenses were rolling. The Eagles were able to take a 10 point halftime lead with a late receiving touchdown by Nick Foles, the Eagles starting quarterback. Philadelphia led at halftime, 22-12
The super bowl halftime show saw Justin Timberlake take the stage for the first time since his controversial performance with Janet Jackson in 2004. While this year’s show didn’t expose any body parts, he still put on quite the performance, earning positive reviews online.
The second half saw a jump in scoring from both teams. The game came down to one last throw into the end zone for the Patriots, which fell incomplete, giving the Eagles a 41-33 victory.
Nick Foles won super bowl MVP, becoming only the second player to start the season as a back up and end up winning MVP. Tom Brady threw for over 500 yards for the Patriots.
