National superhero day today

April 28 marks National Superhero Day which was created by a group of Marvel employees back in 1995.

The intent with creating the holiday was to celebrate both fictional as well as real-life heroes. People who work in the medical field, police and military forces or as a firefighter are the ones who continually put their lives at stake to keep the community safe.

Though the closest Krispy Kreme recently closed, the doughnut chain is advertising "buy one dozen, get the second dozen free." No costuming is required for this deal but it is encouraged.

So dress up as your favorite comic book hero or perhaps even a community helper today!
