Raiders Advance

Wright State’s men’s soccer team made a statement in Horizon League tournament play, as the Raiders bested Northern Kentucky 2-0 on their home field on Monday, Nov. 9.

After dropping their season finale, coach Bryan Davis asked for NKU. They say be careful what you ask for, but Davis couldn’t have been any more prophetic in his request.

Junior midfielder Zach Zwiesler got his first goal of the season at the 36th minute unassisted. Wright State would take that lead into the half and receive their final goal at the 53rd minute on a goal by sophomore midfielder AJ Paterson. Horizon League Freshman of the Year Jackson Dietrich assisted on the goal.

Wright State dominated NKU this time around, doubling their output in shots (16), with five shots on goal compared to zero from NKU.

Wright State will face No. 1 seed UIC (9-5-3; 6-1-2) Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Horizon League semifinals.
