Men's soccer wins third straight

Wright State’s men’s soccer team got a surprise effort from Marquis Payton, who led the Raiders to a 2-0 win Wednesday evening against Belmont.

The Raiders (9-3-1, 4-2-1) are back to their winning ways, riding a three-game win streak, thanks in no small part to Payton and his two goals Wednesday. Payton came into the contest with only one goal on the season.

The 2-0 win also marked Tyler Blackmer’s seventh shutout of the season, brining him within one shutout of last year’s mark at eight.

Payton scored in each half and usually early for the Raiders, as the forward’s first goal came within four minutes of the first half, and the second came at the 47th minute.

The match with Belmont marked the end of their road trip as they return home for a match on Oct. 24 with Detroit. Kick off is at 7 p.m.
