Valentine's Day is fast approaching, but not everyone feels the love. While many people are making reservations at fancy restaurants for dates with their significant others, many others are drowning in their insecurities of being single on a day that seems to celebrate everything but the single life. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a source of disdain, though. Here are a few ways to make your Valentine’s Day special, even if you’re single! Take yourself on a date Flowers, chocolate and candlelight dinners are nice things! Who says someone else has to provide these things for you? Take yourself out on a date. Buy yourself some flowers, and show yourself some love! Pay it forward There’s no better day to spread love with random acts of kindness than Valentine's Day! Give out compliments; pay for a stranger’s chipotle. Spend some time investing in the lives of others. Not only will it put a smile on someone’s face, but it will also fulfill your soul knowing that their smile came from your actions. Work on yourself Having a significant other is great, but we often get so engrossed in our relationships that we neglect our own physical, spiritual and emotional needs. Whatever you need to do for yourself, do it. Use Valentine's Day to focus on self-improvement. Spend time with loved ones Valentine’s Day is about showing love. There’s no rule that specifically says that the only love we can show is towards a significant other. Take the day to spend with friends, family or other people who are close to your heart. Take your love life into your own hands Being single on Valentines Day can be great, but if you need a little romance you can take matters into your own hands. Get a group of friends together and have a night out! Clubs, bars and parties are crawling with singles looking for a good time. Ignore it If you just want nothing to do with Valentines Day, ignoring it altogether is definitely an option. Don’t buy into the hype. February 14th is just one day out of 365, after all. Whether you’re in a committed relationship or living the single life, Valentine’s Day can be for everyone!
