The Novel Brew: ReyRey’s New CMO Leads The Library’s Drink of the Week April 20 to 24

The Dunbar Library at Wright State University (WSU) is home to a wide variety of resources. Books and research information on every subject students need, and– arguably the most important resource of all– ReyRey Cafe, a student-led coffee shop. This week, ReyRey collaborates with Dubar Library to celebrate National Library Week.

“National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries and library professionals play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities,” the American Library Association’s website reads.

Logan Dreyer is the current Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for ReyRey Cafe, is working on transitioning out of his position as the year comes to an end. This position runs the drink of the week (DOW) program as well as social media and marketing. Dreyer shared what the Dunbar Library means to the Cafe staff.

“We're appreciative of the space that we're in,” Dreyer said. “I look forward to what [library staff is] gonna do with the chalkboards.”

Olivia Lemon, the incoming CMO, primarily handled the setup for this week’s DOW, and shared the inspiration behind the decision they came to.

“The library actually had a perfect idea right when they got there. They wanted to do a London Fog but with the weather getting nicer we decided to stick to an iced drink which led us to an iced vanilla and lavender latte. The library is doing this for National Library Week as well and has a bunch of events planned in the Group Study Area,” Lemon said.

In her training to officially take over as ReyRey’s CMO, Lemon put together the entirety of this week’s DOW: The Novel Brew.

“As far as leading my first DOW, I’m so excited. Logan is my best friend and I’ve always seen the excitement he’s had when doing DOWs and now it’s my turn. Definitely some good things to come and I hope to bring in new ideas and things to ReyRey as CMO,” Lemon said.

Her first DOW was off to a decent start, with a beverage that will be perfect for coffee-lovers. It leads with the latte taste, followed quickly by vanilla. Finally, a hint of lavender rounds out the flavor profile, perfectly on-brand for the upcoming spring.

Dreyer, having held the position for a year, shared his thoughts about the ongoing transition of leadership between the two of them.

“I think she's gonna do awful; no, I'm kidding. I'm very excited for what she has in store for marketing. I know it's gonna be different than what I've been doing,” Dreyer said. “She wants to make the Instagram look more aesthetic, and I know she wants to continue the funny videos that I do. Yeah, I have full faith.”

Lemon shared some of the ideas she has for the upcoming year, saying she wants to bring new energy and host events after hours.

For the entirety of National Library Week, which is now until Friday, April 24, you can try Lemon’s first DOW beverage, The Novel Brew, as easily as asking for the drink of the week.
