Wright State men’s basketball forward Tavares Sledge pled guilty Tuesday morning in Fairborn Municipal Court to Judge Beth Root.
Sledge pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor counts after a September incident involving his live-in girlfriend. He pleaded guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct, and a count of obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
Sledge was originally charged with domestic violence and child endangering. Both of those charges were changed to disorderly conduct.
He will serve the final 19 days of his sentence starting December 17 in Greene County Detention.
Sledge has remained suspended by WSU head coach Billy Donlon since the incident took place on September 28. He has not participated in team activities since his suspension began.
As part of the sentence, he will have to take parenting and domestic violence classes. He was also placed under 2 years of community control.
Sledge appeared in 34 games last season for the Raiders. He averaged 4.1 points per game and 4.1 rebounds.
Donlon said in a written statement that Sledge would remain suspended.
“We have been deeply saddened by the events that occurred for all parties involved. This ruling enables Tavares to accept responsibility for his actions and continue his education at Wright State University," Donlon said. "Our concern moving forward is giving Tavares the support needed to become a better person and student. He will remain on indefinite suspension.”
