Wright State student dies after second heart transplant

Wright State student Rachel Doseck, 21, died June 24, months after her second heart transplant.

Doseck received her first heart transplant in 2002 at the age of 10. Her second took place on Jan. 19, 2013, according to Wapakoneta Daily News (WDN).

At Wright State, Doseck was a member of the 4-H Club at WSU Lake Campus before transferring to the Dayton campus, where she was involved with the Catholic Campus Ministry. She majored in communication studies.

During her time at Lake Campus, Doseck brought the nonprofit organization Life Connection of Ohio to campus to educate students about organ donation, according to a WDN article.

Doseck enjoyed country music, karaoke and campfires with family and friends, the WDN obituary said.

“She was a fun loving person,” WSU student Erin Maag said. “She was very outgoing.”

Maag said the two became close in fall semester of 2012, both involved in the Catholic Campus Ministry.

“She never gave up, even on the bad days," Maag said.
