OMG! Snow in January? NO WAY!

Oh no! I hear the wambulance coming! Guess what Wright State students – we’re all adults here. I don’t see anyone walking around this campus in diapers holding their blanket and sucking their thumb.

We live in Ohio and occasionally it snows in January. And if you don’t live on campus you should probably plan your trips to campus accordingly when inclement weather hits the Dayton Area.

The notion that Wright State students whine and complain about school not being closed the moment we have a snow flurry is embarrassing as a Raider. This isn’t high school any more folks. Wake up a little earlier, scrape the snow off of your car and give yourself some extra time to get to campus. It’s what adults do. High school students whine about not having snow days.

Yes, Wright State has a lot of commuter students. And that should be taken into consideration when the school is thinking about closing campus, but two inches of snow without ice does not constitute the cancelling of classes.

I drove to campus around 11:45 a.m. on Friday and drove back home around 1:30 p.m. On the way back home I noticed that the roads were already plowed and I easily drove the entire way home doing to speed limit. The notion students think WSU should have cancelled campus is ridiculous.

When you graduate and get a real job guess how often snow days happen. They don’t. Get used to it. You’re going to not only have to go to work with snow covering the ground, you’re going to have to learn to drive in it as well. Don’t like it? Drop out, move to California, and sell your car. It’s time to graduate from the Pampers, put on your big boy pants and be an adult. Welcome to the real world.
