As the holiday season approaches, many opportunities are coming up for kid-friendly fun on campus.
The University Activities Board, along with Sigma Phi Epsilon, is putting on the Holiday Affair. This event, spearheaded by UAB’s Vice President, Kyrsten Dysert, and head of philanthropy, Ilysia Murray, will take place on Dec. 5 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Union Atrium and will feature a variety of activities for all ages.
At the Holiday Affair, kids and parents alike will be able to decorate cookies, drink hot cocoa and make holiday cards. The event is not only enjoyable for the participants, but also gives back to the community. The holiday cards made at the event will go to the Dayton Children’s Hospital and be delivered to the patients.
Photos taken with Santa will be available for a small fee, and the money paid will be donated to Montgomery County Children’s Services as well as the St. Vincent De Paul Family Shelter.
Alisha Speaks, UAB’s Major Events Coordinator, encourages all to attend.
“Come on out! Everything goes to a good cause and it’s a great way to give back to the community and the children,” Speaks said.
