To Whom It May Concern,
By now, I'm sure you've all heard about the tragic and senseless shooting at the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, CO. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, and their friends and families. This is no doubt a devastatingly difficult time in their lives, emotionally, spiritually, and, believe it or not, financially. The medical, counseling, and (unfortunately) funeral bills that these families will have are going to be outrageous. What's more, any family who has lost a mother, father, husband, or wife has also lost a critical part of their household income. With that in mind, I propose this idea for everyone to think over:
With the massive amounts of money that The Dark Knight Rises has and will continue to make, I feel that some percentage of the earnings should go toward helping the families involved in the shooting. It's doubtful that assisting these families would put even a dent in Warner Bothers' finances. For those of you who support the idea, if you have access to social media, I encourage you to spread around the new Twitter trend #FilmToFamilies. While passing this around on the internet isn't going to make a direct difference, someone somewhere will get these voices heard.
As a disclaimer, I will say that while I absolutely do not believe that Warner Brothers or Christopher Nolan are in any way responsible for the tragedy, I do believe that there is no reason for knights to only exist in the movies.
