On Feb. 15, news broke that the Associated Press (AP) was barred from the White House following a 4-day dispute with President Donald Trump over the Gulf of Mexico. Following this is a lengthy legal situation, as President Trump is the first U.S. president to bar a news organization from covering him. This leaves many to question whether this is a direct attack on the First Amendment, which covers freedom of press, and what this might mean for journalism in the future.
