Chloe Detty, a Wright State University management major, has been appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine as a student trustee on the WSU Board of Trustees.
The student trustee position is a two-year governor-appointed position. The position is a part of the Board of Trustees, made up of nine community members and two student members. The committee represents WSU in various ways, forming and passing policies that impact the life and community on campus. The students hold the responsibility of bringing student voices and opinions to the board.
"The student voice is not an addition to the work we do at Wright State — it is a part of how we make decisions,” said President Sue Edwards in a press release. “Chloe has demonstrated a genuine commitment to serving her fellow students, and I look forward to the insight and energy she will bring to this important role.
Throughout her time at WSU, Detty has served on the Dean’s circle for the College of Science and Mathematics, the internal director of Miracle Makers, the policy administrator of the Student Government Association (SGA) and will be the external vice president of the Pre-Law Society this coming fall semester.
In addition to taking on the position of student trustee, Detty will also take on the position of chief of staff of SGA this fall.
Detty will fill Lauren Johnson’s position, an accounting major whose two-year term concluded in June.
"It is an incredible honor and a wonderful opportunity to represent the student perspective while contributing to decisions that will affect the future of the university,” Detty said in a press release. “Contributing to initiatives that enhance the student experience and support the success of the university for future Raiders is a top priority for me in my time as student trustee.”
The Guardian’s podcast, Off The Record, recently had Detty as a guest, highlighting her work in SGA during the group’s election season. Watch the episode below.
