Brad Chandler has been named Wright State University (WSU) Athletic Director after an almost three-month nationwide search.
Chandler brings 17 years of experience with NCAA Division I athletics to WSU after his time at Bradley University, a private University in Peoria, Illinois.
“This search was about finding someone who can take our athletics program to the next level – someone who prioritizes student-athlete success, academic achievement and building a program that represents the pride of our university and community,” Sue Edwards, WSU President, said in a press release.
During his time at Bradley, Chandler served as Deputy Athletic Director, financial and compliance officer and in additional roles. Before his time in Illinois, Chandler held leading roles at Arizona State, Ohio State and Rutgers.
The university will host a public welcome on June 26 in the Student Union, allowing students, staff and the WSU community to meet Chandler and his family.
“I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to be here at Wright State,” Chandler said in a press release. “My family and I are so excited about being a part of the Dayton community and will be proud to serve the Wright State family. To lead a program that means so much to this region is something I do not take lightly.
“I am committed to working alongside our coaches, student-athletes, alumni and supporters to build on the strong foundation already in place and continue strengthening a culture that helps our student-athletes succeed in competition, in the classroom and beyond. I look forward to what we can accomplish together in this next chapter. Go Raiders!”
As the search for Athletic Director has now come to an end, Chandler will begin his role with WSU in the 2026-27 academic school year as the Raiders are officially ready to prepare for their season in the Horizon League.
