WSU Campus During Winter

Breaking News: Winter Storm Warning

A winter storm this weekend is expected to bring in between 8 to 12 inches of snow, possibly more, to this region and to Wright State University (WSU).

Snowfall is supposed to begin Saturday evening and last until noon on Monday, however the winter storm warning is already in effect in Fairborn.

While campus will remain open, the current forecast might affect dining hours on campus. Raider Mart is expected to remain open, if conditions allow. Other dining halls may close due to weather, so it is recommended if you are staying on campus to stock up on Saturday before conditions worsen.

Flurries will start lighter Saturday afternoon, and heavier snowfall will come on Sunday, according to The Weather Channel.

Showers will remain steady and light through Saturday night and Sunday is expected to bring about 1 inch of snow each hour before tapering off around 8 p.m.

The storm is also bringing in low temperatures with highs only being in the teens. However, the wind chill will make the temperature feel like single digits for most of the weekend.

A cold advisory is already in effect, issues for Wilmington from the National Weather Service (NWS) that will last until 12 p.m. Saturday.

As the snowfall ends, we will see the lowest temperatures on Monday, Jan. 26 with a high of 8 degrees and a low of -2 degrees. Make sure you wear lots of layers and stay warm if campus remains open.

If you have to go out in the storm, it is recommended to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

WSU has not announced any campus closures so far. Be sure to check The Guardian’s social media pages for any updates on delays, closures and more.
