On-Campus Journalism: Meet Wright Life Editor Jahnavi Chinthalapaty

Jahnavi Chinthalapaty is the Wright Life Editor for The Wright State Guardian. She is committed to bringing life into the Wright Life sector and getting involved through community engagement and passionate storytelling.

She has been with The Guardian for 3 months, but in that short amount of time, Chinthalapaty reported that she has learned effective communication, confidence, time management and teamwork.

“My goal is to help strengthen our campus storytelling by creating content that is accurate, engaging and meaningful to the [WSU] community,” Chinthalapaty said. “The skills I’ve gained will be very valuable in my future career. They’ve helped me become more confident and prepared for real-world work environments."

Chinthalapaty is a microbiology & immunology major at Wright State University (WSU). As an international student, she is originally from Telangana, India.

She attributes both the newspaper and WSU as an entity for helping her be more proactive and involved with the community.

“WSU has taught me the importance of being proactive, getting involved and taking advantage of opportunities that help me grow academically and socially,” Chinthalapaty said. “Working here has helped me grow both professionally and personally.”

Beyond The Guardian and WSU, Chinthalapaty is also a big fan of cartoons, saying her favorites are Phineas and Ferb and SpongeBob. She also is sensitive to caffeine.

“The more caffeine I intake, the more I sleep,” Chinthalapaty explained.

Overall, Chinthalapaty is committed to The Guardian and looking forward to bringing new stories and perspectives to WSU. Through her beat assignment, Wright Through My Eyes, she has done in-depth interviews on various students' WSU experiences.

“I’m always excited to learn new things and take on new challenges. I’m grateful to be part of The Guardian, and I hope to continue contributing to stories that make a positive impact on campus,” Chinthalapaty said.
