Wright State’s Dayton campus closes early for potential adverse weather
On Tuesday, April 2, Wright State University announced via a campus wide email that the Dayton campus would close at 2:30 p.m. due to potential adverse weather.
Only employees designated as essential remained on campus after 2:30 p.m. All classes, activities and events that started at or after 2:30 p.m. were canceled.

4.8 magnitude earthquake hits East Coast
On Friday, April 5, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck the East Coast, according to the Associated Press. The midmorning quake was centered between New York and Philadelphia, causing no widespread damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports over 4.2 million people could have felt the quake. Following the earthquake, officials in the region inspected infrastructure, and there were delays to transportation.

On Sunday, April 7, South Carolina finished a perfect season with a 87-75 win over Iowa in the NCAA championship, according to the Associated Press.

Seven aid workers killed in Gaza airstrike
On Tuesday, April 2, seven aid workers from the World Central Kitchen, including one American, were killed by airstrikes in Gaza, according to the Associated Press. Following the attack, several other charitable groups suspended operations in the region, saying it was too dangerous to continue delivering aid.
President Biden released a statement expressing his disapproval of Israel's actions.
“The United States has repeatedly urged Israel to deconflict their military operations against Hamas with humanitarian operations, in order to avoid civilian casualties.” the press release reads.
7.4 magnitude earthquake hits Taiwan
On Wednesday, April 3, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan, killing nine people and trapping dozens of others in collapsed buildings, according to the Associated Press. The earthquake was centered around Hualien County, a mountainous region, but the shaking could be felt over 93 miles away in the capital city of Taipei.
This was the strongest earthquake the island has seen in a quarter of a century. A tsunami warning was issued but later lifted.
