Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed Madisyn Crabtee, a marketing major, to serve as the student trustee for the Wright State University Board of Trustees, according to a list of appointments from the governor’s office. Crabtree’s term ends June 30, 2025.
Crabtree joins Chris Jenkins, a statistics major, who is a student trustee until June 30, 2024. According to the Board of Trustee’s website, these student trustees act as the voice of the student population in university matters and board proceedings.
National
Angus Cloud dead at 25
Angus Cloud, star of the hit HBO series “Euphoria,” died on July 31 at the age of 25. According to an Associated Press release, the cause of death is currently unknown.
Donald Trump pleads not guilty
According to an Aug. 3 Associated Press release, former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to federal charges for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. The case continues to unfold in a Washington, D.C. courthouse.
Galactic
On Aug. 1, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Deep Space Network detected a carrier signal on Voyager 2—the spacecraft that NASA is using to study the edge of our solar system—after experiencing interrupted contact with the spacecraft on July 21, according to a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory press release.
NASA explains that it launched Voyager 2 on Aug. 20, 1977, to later join Voyager 1 in 2018 in interstellar space for the study of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
The mission expects that Voyager 2 will point its antenna toward Earth in October; the team assured a commitment to earlier command of Voyager 2, which is still on its expected trajectory.
