What: Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Where: Portions of east central Indiana, including the following county, Wayne and Ohio, including the following counties, Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Delaware, Franklin, Greene, Hardin, Licking, Logan, Madison, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby and Union. When: From midnight EDT tonight through Thursday afternoon. Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Additional Details: Multiple rounds of rain will occur overnight into Thursday. The heavier bands of rainfall will have 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts. Precautionary and preparedness actions: People in the watch area should keep an eye on the weather and be prepared for immediate action should heavy rains and flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued. Avoid low-lying areas and be careful when approaching highway dips and underpasses.

No, Wright State is not on fire. WPAFB conducts controlled burns

Several students notified The Wright State Guardian with suspicions of a possible fire on Wright State’s campus. 

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) conducted controlled burns near Route 235 near Gate 26A and at Huffman Prairie. 

The first burn near Route 235 happened at around 10 a.m.

The second burn at Huffman Prairie happened around 1 p.m.

WPAFB uses controlled burns to maintain the ecosystem and to prevent wildfires, according to officials.

"Fire is a natural management tool that releases essential nutrients back into the soil, reduces the thatch layer and aids in reducing the fuel load which aids in controlling wildland fires," Darryn Warner, Natural Resources Program Manager said in a media release.
