Volleyball overcomes 2-0 deficit

Wright State overcame a two set deficit at UIC (12-12) on Saturday, Oct. 24 but could not complete the comeback as they fell three sets to two.

UIC came out firing in the first set as they took a commanding 13-6 lead.  WSU would cut the deficit to four at 20-16 but the Flames responded with a 5-2 run to win the set and take a 1-0 lead.

The second set was tight consisting of 13 ties and 15 lead changes.  UIC held the largest lead with four and won the set 27-25.

The score was tied at 10 in the third set before UIC took a 9-4 run to gain a five point advantage at 19-14.  The Raiders responded with a clutch 11-1 run to win the set 25-20 and force a fourth set.

WSU fell behind 8-4 in the fourth set but responded with an 8-2 run to take a 12-10 lead.  The Raiders continued to find success as they closed out the set on a 13-7 run to tie the match at 2 sets each.

The fifth set was similar to the second as the two teams went back and forth eventually tying the match at 17 before  UIC posted back to back points to close out the set 19-17.

The Raiders (12-13; Horizon 1-9) have lost five straight conference matches and will be back in action at Northern Kentucky on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
