Raiders drop fourth straight

Women's Volleyball  dropped their fourth straight match at Green Bay on Oct. 3 after losing in three straight sets; 25-19, 25-16, 25-19.

In the first set the Raiders (11-8) showed signs of life during a 6-2 run to make the score 17-13 after a service ace by offensive hitter Megan Hopkins. The Phoenix struck back with a 5-1 run to tie the game at 18 which gave them momentum for a 7-1 run to close out the set 25-19.

The Phoenix continued to rack up points in the next set as they kicked it off with an 8-1 run.  The Raiders managed to score some points but could not put a solid run together.  They cut the deficit to six after a kill by middle blocker Haley Garr to make the score 17-10 but the Phoenix would respond with an 8-6 run to close out the set 25-16.

After the break the Raiders kicked off the third set with a 2-0 lead after a kill by senior Marissa Aiello.  WSU gained a four point advantage at 15-11 after a service ace by sophomore Rachel Kremer.  The score was tied at 18 until the Phoenix heated up with a 7-1 run to close out the set and match.

The Raiders are now 0-4 in the Horizon League after starting the season 11-6.  They will be back in action at McLin Gym on Tuesday, Oct. 6 as they host Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m.
