Move over, Macaroons: Michelle's Macarons offering discounts for Valentine's Day

Michelle’s Macarons is a business that began in New Bremen, Ohio by Michelle Adams, a graduate of Wright State University’s Lake campus. Adams wanted to start a business with one single goal in mind: to make people happy.

“We wanted to show that we actually care about our customers and the products we sell them. A lot of products these days are cold and impersonal, and I feel like we do the opposite of that. I love making delicious desserts for people because I think it makes them happy,” Adams said.

Unlike macaroons, which are made from shredded coconut, macarons are a French dessert that consists of two delicate meringue cookies sandwiched around a filling. They are crunchy, chewy and creamy.

“There are different methods for making macarons,” Adams explained. “I use the French method. I make a meringue and then fold in almond flour and powdered sugar that has been sifted several times. I pipe that onto baking sheets and let them dry. I bake them, they cool and then I fill them and sandwich them together. It takes a long time, but it’s worth it.”

The flavors included in the Valentine’s Day special are salted caramel, cocoa dusted dark chocolate and crunchy peanut butter, all covered in chocolate, meant to mimic the traditional box of chocolates that most people are familiar with as a common Valentine’s Day gift.

Michelle’s Macarons ships to anywhere in Ohio, and Adams will include a handwritten note upon request. For free shipping, use the code “willyoubemyvalentine?” Visit michellesmacarons.com to order and join the email list, where you will receive discount codes and updates on new flavors and have the opportunity to be selected as the monthly taste tester.
