Dunbar Library evacuated due to wiring issues

The Dunbar Library was evacuated Tuesday morning around 10:30 when an electrical wire caused heavy smoke to form. A circulation desk worker described the events.

Eyewitness and Wright State student Jasmine Higgins also described what she saw as her class was interrupted.

“A wire on the second floor was too close to a sensor and got too hot, causing it to smoke. Everyone was evacuated but there was no fire,” a source said.

“I was in the middle of class and we heard the fire alarms go off. At first I thought it was a drill but when the announcement came on we knew it was real. When we were all standing outside I saw the ambulance and a fire truck. I also saw them take a stretcher into the library,” Higgins said.

Students were allowed back in the library around 10:50 a.m.
