For the third time in four games, senior guard Ivory James set a career high scoring mark with 35 points and Wright State dismantled Murray State 95-69 Thursday night at the CFSB Center in Murray, KY.
It was a mismatch from the opening tip. James and the Raiders sprinted to a 23-6 in the first half with over 12 minutes remaining before halftime. When both teams entered the locker room, WSU had built a 19-point advantage and showed no signs of slowing down.
For the game, James and Kim Demmings nearly outscored the entire Racers team. Demmings finished with 26 points. The dynamic scoring duo has totaled 42 or more points in all but one of WSU’s games this season.
Thursday’s game marks the third time this season that WSU has posted at least 80 points against its opponent. The Raiders surpassed the 80-point mark only twice last year.
Earlier in the week, WSU head coach Mike Bradbury said that he would like his team to hold a plus-8 advantage in the rebounds and turnovers differential. Against the Racers, the Raiders were plus-19.
The Raiders (4-1) return to action Sunday afternoon at the Nutter Center against NAIA Marian University at 2 p.m.
