Wright State student government proposed installing electronic lockboxes in campus classrooms to prevent supplies from being taken from those classrooms.
Missing dry-erase markers and erasers have been a problem on campus, causing professors to waste time tracking down spare supplies. The proposed lockboxes would be installed in each classroom which requires these supplies, and to be locked up by the professor after each class.
Chief of Staff Spencer Brannon said that each lockbox would cost $26, and would feature a keypad lock mechanism. Brannon also said that the passwords to the lockboxes would be reset either once each year or once each semester.
Other Senate members proposed alternative solutions to the problem, including additional supply cabinets in each building and SMART board technology. With these options taken into account, student government decided to save further discussion of the proposal for a later date.
