Wright State University’s Lake Campus has received a $44,778 grant that is intended for the manufacturing campus. The grant, a partnership with Honda, will allow the Lake Campus to modernize and revitalize the labs.
The grant comes after WSU was invited to apply to the Honda USA Foundation at the start of Fall 2025. The Honda USA Foundation is a non-profit organization run by the corporate Honda company. The organization works through sending funds to other non-profits to give the money for developments in programs.
According to the organization, the program is to give back to communities to facilitate strong workers.
“Honda’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) vision is to help people fulfill their life’s potential. We support this vision by investing in the communities where we live and work through meaningful funding opportunities,” Honda said.
To receive this grant, Honda USA Foundation partnered with Wright State’s Western Ohio Education Foundation to give the money to the campus. The Western Ohio Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that works with the Wright State Foundation to provide funding in scholarships and grants to the Lake Campus.
According to a statement by Tammy Eilerman, Director of Workforce Development and the Business Enterprise Center, the grant money will give a much-needed boost to both the labs and the program that will be beneficial to student development.
“Receiving this support from Honda has been a tremendous asset for our advanced manufacturing lab. This investment allows us to modernize our facility with high-level equipment, from repairing essential machinery like our mill to installing new welding booths,” Eilerman said. “By upgrading these tools, we are ensuring our students train on the exact technology they'll encounter in the field, strengthening the bridge between our classroom and the local industry."
Some of the programs that are looking to get a boost from the lab revitalization are The Manufacturing Technology Program, The High School Pre-Apprentice Earn and Learn Program and The Advanced Manufacturing SkillsTrac Program.
