Wright State’s student-led coffee shop, ReyRey Cafe, has started their new campaign of monthly drink options with “September Sips.” The four fall-themed drinks will be offered through the end of September.
This month’s drinks include the Cinnamon Swirl, which is made of a cinnamon bun latte with cold foam and cinnamon powder, and the Pumpkin Hug Chai, which is a chai latte mixed with pumpkin, vanilla and cinnamon powder.
Also, the Orange Blossom Refresher, which has white chocolate, lavender, orange and vanilla, and lastly the Campfire Crunch, which is a mocha frappe with toast marshmallow and brown sugar, topped with caramel drizzle, mocha drizzle, whipped cream, cold foam and graham cracker topping.
Olivia Lemon, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for ReyRey came up with the idea and has been trying out different drink combinations to keep students interested in the shop.
“I [got inspiration] from a coffee shop called Penny Lane in New Carlisle. Each month they have a lineup and it always made me excited to come back,” Lemon said. “During the week, we have so many ideas that we can’t always do. It’s a good way for us to market our recommendations.”
Lemon, along with the new CEO, Logan Dreyer, have worked together to come up with this month’s drinks, but they plan to involve the current baristas and encourage them to share their ideas, as well, to create the menu moving forward.
During Drink of the Week, a collaboration between ReyRey and a different student organization, Lemon has the opportunity to share her input and help come up with the drink. However, it is up to the organization to decide what they want their drink to be and what it should be made of.
The monthly drink menu allows the cafe staff to explore their own ideas and give students different drinks than they are used to seeing on a regular basis.
“Not everyone knows the dream combinations we come up with when it’s dead here. We just put random combinations together and it really happens to work out,” Lemon said.
The ReyRey Cafe team have already started coming up with ideas for next month’s menu, including some spooky themed drinks for Halloween.
