List of store closings on Thanksgiving Day and early Black Friday

With Black Friday creeping in on Thanksgiving’s turf, several nationwide businesses have chosen not to open their doors on Thanksgiving at all.

 Here is the list of retailers that will be closed on Thanksgiving:

DSW

  1. Costco
  2. REI
  3. Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts
  4. J. Maxx
  5. Marshalls
  6. Pier 1 Imports
  7. Barnes & Noble Booksellers
  8. Sam’s Club
  9. Home Depot
  10. Gamestop
  11. Lowe’s
  12. Patagonia
  13. Cabela’s
When asked why the company, Patagonia, decided to close its doors, a spokesperson responded, “It’s a holiday—we’re closed!”

Jerry Strizke, President and CEO of REI had a similar message, “We’ll be closing all 143 of our stores and paying our employees to head outside. We’re choosing to opt outside, and want you to come with us.”

A Costco spokesperson said, “Our employees work especially hard during the holiday season and we simply believe that they deserve the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their families.”
